About
Our Mission
The Enterprising Moms (TEM) is an organization that empowers women who are growing businesses while growing families. We provide a community of support, inspiration, education and celebration using a multi-dimensional approach. Moms in all stage of business connect in-person, online, and soon via teleconferences, teleclasses, and webinars.
And, as an organization that firmly believes giving back, we contribute to the greater good in our local communities through ongoing volunteer and environmental efforts and through charitable contributions.
TEM is currently a free Yahoo!-based community with more than 225 members and we are evolving. We'll soon transition to a fee-based model with multiple levels (including a free level) of member benefits designed to promote the growth and development of member businesses and raise the profiles (and revenues!) of the business owners.
Our Start
The Enterprising Moms was founded in 2006 with just a handful of women meeting monthly for coffee in the DC metro area. More than a year and a half later, it has blossomed into a vibrant, multidimensional community made up of enterprising moms with businesses representing a broad spectrum of industries. We share trials and triumphs, ideas and resources, and provide support and encouragement to each other as we grow our businesses and our families.
The Enterprising Moms is about the whole mom. We're about our business, our families and everything that fuses the two worlds.
Our Founder
The Enterprising Moms was founded by Carolyn Semedo, a certified coach an mother of three specializing in work-life integration for parents and small business coaching. In addition to her role as the founder and President of TEM, Carolyn offers one-on-one coaching and consulting services through Apply Within.
TEM was born out of a need for one rising business-owner and expectant mom to connect with others. It evolved into a network and community of mom-business owners throughout the Washington, DC metro area and beyond who connect, collaborate, educate and inspire each other. It thrives because of the expertise, creativity, resourcefulness of it's members and their willingness to share.
